My first SANTA LUCIA experience

Mike's dad has a swedish ancestory and he also served his mission in Sweden. So...swedish Christmas traditions are essential in the Coombs house. They have made up a tradition in honor of remembering their Dad's mission and family. Everybody that has served a mission in the family makes a dish from that country that they loved on their mission. His dad served up Swedish meatballs, lots of cheese, salami, and crackers. His brother nate made fried onions and eggs, a traditional Dominican Republic breakfast. His brother Ben brough Artichoke dip, a favorite in Seattle. Nick brought Spanish rice. Brooke (nick's girlfriend) served a mission in Costa Rica and she brought Tres Leches a yummy dessert. Mike and I made empanadas, a favorite main dish of his from Chile! Annette and Abbie claimed their mission was to Hawaii (though it is just a favorite destination) and brought pineapple. Abbie's boyfriend Ky served a mission in south korea so he brought fire meat and seaweed, aloe juice, and chopsticks :)
There were a few other things in the mix but boy was there a lot of food!
Everybody started off introducing their food and how to eat it and then we dug right in! Empanadas :)
Steve plays the gift giver with a traditional Swedish horse thing (whose name I already forgot)

Abbie and Ky, the musically inclined duo lead the family in Christmas songs!

Mike and I paused for a happy moment while singing along!
Here is a clip to share with you of our Singing extravaganza :)

This season the girls all got together for an afternoon of candy making too but I didn't get to take pictures. So I'll just say that much about it so I can remember later on.
See ya'll later! Love, Sierra
